Dora the Explorer

Dora is young Latina cartoon character who plays the lead role on Nick Jr’s hit television show “Dora the Explorer.”  Children watch and learn through her adventures. She has helped teach children worldwide about bilingualism and diversity.  This show has been aired in 22 languages and Dora herself was awarded as one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics in the Nation.”  Her character has helped promote an understanding of Latino culture as well as an opportunity to educate children about new languages and cultures.  She has helped to give representation to a large demographic that isn’t normally seen on television.  The music on the show as well as the other aspects of this series stay true to the Latino way of life.
